WAPO, founded in 2007 is an orchestra for musicians of all age, race, gender, and ethnicity. We strive to provide an outstanding learning experience and cultivate a lifelong passion for classical music. WAPO is a truly unique orchestra experience, combining student and community orchestras in one. We welcome musicians of all ages with solo skill level of 4 and above (please refer to Repertoire Lists | MMEA Website (mdmea.org). Currently our members consist of students from grade 7-12, adult amateur musicians, and professional musicians. WAPO is committed to the growth and development of our student musicians, we provide opportunities for them to play as a soloist with orchestra, frequent seating rotation for leadership training, and playing alongside professional musicians to further sharpen their skills. Our student members are accepted by rolling admissions, preferably at the beginning of each semester. Adult amateur and professional musicians may join at anytime.
